Yigal Ziv noted that machines were idling while they awaited machining plans from the CAM department when he first began working on software development to reduce mold and die machining times. Mr. Ziv observed that machine operators were an underutilized resource who might be trained to write their own machining programs, allowing them to keep up with what was necessary to keep their machines producing. This was the beginning of shop floor programming for mold shops, which revolutionized how mold shops functioned. Mr. Ziv's personal business was revolutionized by this mindset.
